Stature Estimation from Hand - Measurements – A Review Based Study
Keywords:
Stature Estimation, Hand, Hand AnthropometryAbstract
Stature estimation provides one aspect of an individual's physiognomy and piece of information that helps in individual identification. Stature Estimation of an individual is done from different dimensions of the body to establish a partial identity which may help in narrowing down the pool of possible matching victim. The stature estimation can be done by long bones, foot, face, hand with great accuracy rate, and different anthropometry instruments are used for taking dimensions.
Hand anthropometry is found to give important predictive information about stature of an individual and but very few studies have been done on linking hand measurements with stature.
In the present study an attempt has been made to study the previous work done by researchers in this field nationally and internationally and to draw meaningful findings from the previous work done. The work done nationally by Dhikshit et.al.(2005), Shiv Shankar et.al. (2017), Rastogi (2008), Jasuja and Singh (2004), Chandra et.al. (2014) and Pal et.al. (2016) are considered and internationally by Satyal and Podel (2017), Modibbo et.al. (2012), Laulathaphol et.al. (2013), Moorthy and Zulkifly (2014), Moorthy T et.al. (2019) and Ibrahim (2018) are considered.
